ABOUT TOM SCHACHE
Percussion lessons provided by Tom Schache cover all Latin styles and rhythms, pop and world music. Tom teaches Congas, Djembe, Timbales, Bongos, as well as a huge selection of hand-percussion (tambourine, shakers, etc).
Tom has been teaching practical, theory, and performance skills with Billy Hyde Drumworx for 12 years, has taught at the Qld Conservatorium of Music, local schools and is the Principal of ‘SLAM’ School of Latin-American Music where he also facilitates group corporate and student workshops.
Tom has studied and performed as a percussionist in Cuba and Brazil under world class percussionists including renowned LP rep, Changuito, and Samba School ‘Olodum’ of Michael Jackson and Paul Simon fame. He has performed with Grace Knight, Elton John Tribute Band, Ron Kenoly, Darlene Zschech, Latin Connection, at the Woodford Folk Festival, 2000 Olympic Games Celebrations, and Rio Rythmics, touring locally and internationally (Asia, South America, South Pacific) with Latin, Funk, Top 40, Acid Jazz, Reggae, Blues bands, and has recording experience as a session percussionist.
